From where you stay to the trails of the Carnic Alps, our mountains are best discovered on foot.
Walking is one of the simplest ways to get to know Arta Terme and Carnia. Over 40 kilometers of valley floor trails wind between the main town and its villages, connecting hamlets, forests, and diverse landscapes. From here, longer itineraries, high-altitude hikes, and routes for those who want to venture further open up.
You can set off right from your accommodation, follow the wooden trail signs, and venture onto the local paths (tròis), or choose more distant destinations among alpine huts (malghe), mountain refuges, famous peaks, and high-altitude lakes. Multi-day guided hikes are also available for those who want to take on more complex routes. From gentle walks to challenging treks, you will find paths suited to different paces, seasons, and levels of experience.
